The ExplorOz website is published as a resource serving the interests of people wanting detailed information either About, or How to Get To, destinations within Australia. The site is focussed on the self-drive traveller, in particular those that prefer camping, caravanning or motorhoming. The site is commercially funded by its own internal operations - online Map/Bookshop, Membership Program, and Advertising. The site is owned and operated by I.T. Beyond Pty Ltd, who employs editorial staff to create non-commercial, unbiased Articles that are published on the ExplorOz website. These articles are carefully designed by the editorial team to answer many of the questions asked by people interested in camping, caravanning, touring, and four wheel driving. As a service to our readers, we allow businesses of related products/services to Advertise (for a fee) in specific articles where relevant. Advertising content is clearly distingished from the editorial content to maintain our impartiality to these businesses.
Adele manages the operation of the online shop from inventory control, stock procurement, and processing individual customer orders (taken via online shop order or telephone) for mail delivery. She also handles all sales that are processed through the site's e-commerce system being Trader Advertisements, PointPlace Credits, and Membership. Adele will be your first point of contact with I.T. Beyond when you call the main office or when sending an ExplorOz feedback forms.
Working closely with all team members, Damian's daily work involves research and publication of new articles, preparation and distribution of the fortnightly e-newsletter, assisting with the look/feel of the site, and supporting Adele in responding to general site enquiries and incoming phone calls. Damian is also multi-skilled to cover shop order processing. Damian is the main point of contact for all feedback and enquiries relating to Trek Notes, Articles, and Forum Moderation.
Michelle is co-Director in the I.T. Beyond Pty Ltd business and is the founding Director of ExplorOz.com. Her extensive expertise in authoring, marketing and advertising spans 15 years of corporate experience prior to building ExplorOz.com She works closely with David on the site's marketing and promotions, content strategy and future directions. Michelle's day-to-day role focuses on the development of new business (Advertisers) on ExplorOz and the management of existing clients (Advertisers) and staff. Michelle is the first point of contact for all advertising, marketing and PR enquiries.
Kerry is an important and valuable member of our Advertising Sales Team, although he is located in rural Queensland and does not work from the Perth office. Kerry works closely with Michelle on new business and sales strategies. By having advertising sales staff on both sides of the country, we overcome issues of time zone delays in responding to your Eastern States advertising enquiries when the Perth office may be closed (Perth is GMT+8).
David has over 20 years in the I.T. industry focusing on infrastructure design, creation and implementation of hardware and software solutions for mid-large scale organizations. 8 years ago, David was so optimistic about the future of IT and business - in particular the internet, that he invested his energies into developing a website that could be a business unto itself. In those days, the internet had many critics and few success stories, but today it is inextricably interwoven into business and society. Riding the back of this change in societies attitudes is the ExplorOz.com website. David is uniquely one of the few Australian IT professionals that has conceived, designed, created, and managed a privately owned, financially successful and solely web-based business that ranks in the top 200 of all Australian websites.
David has always played a hands-on role in the ExplorOz® business - as the site's architect, developer and designer. He has designed and programmed the entire ExplorOz® website including all software components and coding that drive the back-end of the site including the customised design of a front-end Content Management System that enables his staff and our interactive site users to add content to the site without using complex scripts or html coding.
David's vision and understanding of how the internet and advances in information technology will lead businesses into the future is the driving force in the site's content strategy.
